Postdoctoral Fellow Center for Computational Oncology
Lois C. Okereke received a BSc in Mathematics from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka , Nigeria in 2014, and an MSc. in Pure and Applied Mathematics at the African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja, Nigeria in 2017, graduating with honours at the top of her class in both programs. Her MSc program was fully funded by the African Capacity Building Foundation Scholarship award. She received her PhD in Pure and Applied Mathematics from AUST, Abuja in November 2022 after completing a split-site PhD carried out between the Mathematics Institute at AUST, Abuja, and the Institute of Systems, Molecular and Integrative Biology at the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom, including months-long visiting research spells at the Computational Biology and Integrative Genomics laboratory, department of Oncology, University of Oxford, United Kingdom and Laboratoire d’Etudes et Recherches en Statistiques et Development (LERSTAD), Gaston Berger University, Senegal.
Lois C. Okereke leveraged her mathematical analysis and computational skills to focus much of her PhD research on developing rigorous and novel techniques for optimizing dose distributions delivered by external beam radiotherapy in her thesis titled “Models and algorithms for inverse problems in radiotherapy planning for cancer treatment”, under the supervision of Professor Charles Ejike Chidume and co-supervised by Dr. John D. Fenwick. Since December 2022, she has been a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Computational Oncology, Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences, UT Austin.
